WELCOME
TO RICARDO´S BAR
We
should have called it Rick’s Café Americain, because like the fabled
dive in the movie, Ricardo’s is a meeting place, an international
crossroads, for artists, beachcombers, gamblers, divas, drinkers and simple
travelers. People come to Ricardo’s on the beach to sip a reflective Flor de
Cana rum, while watching one of San Juan del Sur’s famed sunsets, said to be
the most spectacular in Central America; or to listen to tall tales from
anglers and surfers who crowd the long wooden bar each evening. Unlike
Rick’s in Casablanca police raids are at a minimum at Ricardo’s,
as peace prevails in our tiny artists’ haven on the Pacific, and Nicaragua
is one of the least militarized nations in the region.
If you are looking for more than a
spectacular view
or a spicy Victoria beer, you’ll find Chef Marie Mendel each night turning
out Ricardo’s trademark pottery platters piled high with unique
combinations of flavor melding her European heritage with her love of
Central American gastronomy. A superb Surf n’Turf dish will bring out the
poet in you with a melange of beef spears and tender shrimp brochettes all
brought to a boil with a heady stew of special Nicaraguan cheese and spices.
At Ricardo’s formalwear is
optional, but like the Bogart original we love to play games here, so hang
on to your wallet! Any night of the week you’ll find heavy gambling sessions
around the Monopoly board
as
Park Place changes hands at astronomical prices. For cheap and easy
communication with the rest of the planet, Ricardo’s offers the
latest in computer and Internet technology. You may think you are in the
furthest wilds of remote Nicaragua, however the worldwide web is but a click
away. We like to call it Surfing by the surf, as the waves pound our
extrordinary expanse of sand just a few steps from our computer room. After
you’ve surfed the net take a stroll along our world renowned, palm lined
beach, or if you’re feeling vigorous rent a boogie board or a volleyball to
work up an appetite for more of Marie’s outstanding cuisine.
Come and be a part of our laid back world for
as long as you want. Any and all of civilization’s weary refugees are
welcome at Ricardo’s on the beach where Ricardo Wagner and Marie
Mendel want nothing more than to give you a good time… |
