San Juan of the South, Rivas. - The population of San Juan of the South knew yesterday the details megaproyecto of tourist development impelled by the company Pacific Ocean Development Company, by an amount of 170 million dollars, which has become the subject of main interest of this city port.

This municipality, located to about 130 kilometers to the south of Managua, knew yesterday in an open town hall the reaches the project like part the established proceedings to obtain the authorization of the concession, same that would be stipulated to not less than 90 years term.

In general terms, the project well was received and supported by the assistants to the town hall, although restlessness and signallings of doubt did not need to be the first time in history that know a work of this caliber.

At the moment San Juan of the South faces like main problem the high level of unemployment, calculated according to estimations of the Mayorship, in 80 percents of the economically active population, reason for which many settlers see in the project the alternative to obtain the improvement in the municipality.

The project is in charge of Nicaraguan investors, among them the family Holmann Chamorro, original of San Juan of the South, and by a North American group headed by Anthony Porter.

Eduardo Holmann Chamorro emphasized that this project has been elaborated with the norms and requirements established in the law, reason why to resources by the order of the 1,5 million dollars in the analysis accomplishment and studies required by the Ministry of Natural Resources have been dedicated and the Atmosphere (Marena), Ministry of Transport and Infraestructura (MTI), the Nicaraguan Institute of Tourism (Intur) and the Commune.

The project supposes the generation of thousands of uses, the local manual labor figure like priority, besides to obtain that the tourism in this bay truely is an activity that has benefit for the zone.

The generation of local and national taxes also comprises of the benefits that the construction of this project would generate, because it is considered that an increase of the availability of circulating would exist and, why no, the promotion of the tourism.

Jaime Moral Carazo, president of the Commission of the Medio.ambiente of the National Assembly, said that this project es of great impact for San Juan of the South because he is guaranteeing the preservation and care of the Medio.ambiente, the tourism is one of the industries of greater potential and here there is all that enchantment.

THEY DISCARD DESTRUCTION OF COASTS

During this consultation, one of the main arguments was that of no way the project would generate adverse factors to the medio.ambiente, coasts bordering and to the own marine life of the zone.

Jose Genet, part of the equipment of advisers of the group investor, indicated that the work Rondas of the sea, first a to execute itself within the seven components that conform megaproyecto, will not affect the coasts, as was rumored.

He emphasized that in the construction of this work, that includes a peatonal stroll, a reserve of marine fauna and a hotel category five stars respetara' the naturalness of the rocky zone, we are not going to penetrate to the sea, everything is going to be constructed on the existing rocky mantle.

With respect to the bordering coasts, he said that either there will be no affectation, el system of drainage of fluvial waters is being conceptualizado and he will not affect the bordering coasts, said.

As far as the possible disappearance of the marine fauna near the project, a made study concluded that there will be no affectation.

A malaise that hung in the sanjuaneños is that this work amenaza. the cliff Cara of the Indian, one of the patrimonies more appraised by the villagers, situation that was denied by the investors who assured that its interest is to preserve so important natural vestige of the bay.

Cara of the Indian. it is a rock that resembles an indigenous profile, arisen of natural way between the cliffs that border the bay.

The other components of megaproyecto are the construction of a navy, a golf course, communitarian areas, mountain development, ecoturístico development and urbanizations.

IN PRO And AGAINST

The sanjuaneños were animated by the idea of the approval of the megainversión to consider it like una key that cannot be despised to obtain the progress, according to honored the architect Eduardo Chamorro Colonel.

Chamorro compared this opportunity with the mighty beginnings of Acapulco and Vallarta Port (both famous Mexican bath).

Some industralists with businesses in San Juan of the South gave their total endorsement to the work, is the case of Rafaela Bristle, proprietor of the Hotel Pacific Marlin, that said that in spite of the possibility of seeing itself affected with works, en this moment cannot be thought only about one, we must think about a community with a 80 percent of unemployment.

Still with some doubts without clarifying, to the Norinda retailer Farm he said that to the project acarreara' more tourism and more commerce, but than he will benefit only to a select sector, to the time that criticized the little communication that maintains the municipal authorities with the population.

San Juan of the South account with the singular record to maintain sandinista authorities to the front of the Commune from 1979.

Farm considered that the very good project esta', but we needed to know more of the pro and the cons and knowledge of the benefits.
