In the meeting it participated the President of the BCN, Antenor Rosales, and the manager of the Area the International, Carlos Sequeira. The ex- president of the Republic, Enrique Bolaños, announced in November that the I.A.D.B. had predicted to pardon to the country about 800 million dollars of the total debit, that at the moment ascends to about 1.200 million dollars. The balance of the external debt of Nicaragua ascends to about 4.500 million dollars, reason why to confirm that the I.A.D.B. decided to pardon around 800 million, the balance would lower about to 3.700 million dollars.

The Inter-American Development Bank (I.A.D.B.) reduced yesterday Monday 3.500 million dollars from debt to Honduras, Bolivia, Nicaragua, Haiti and Guyana, announced the Honduran minister of Finances, Rebeca Santos.

“The total amount that has been reduced us is of approximately 3.500 million dollars, 1.400 million correspond to the lightening of the debt for Honduras”, needed the civil employee in interview to local radios from Amsterdam, Holland.

Saints, along with the president of the Central bank of Honduras, Gabriela Núñez, and the representative by Central America before the I.A.D.B., Hugo Noah Pine, is in Holland participating in an assembly of the organism where the decision was taken.

UNDER THE HIPC

The pardon of the I.A.D.B. was obtained within the framework of the Initiative for Poor Countries Highly Indebted (HIPC, in English), created by the multilateral organisms in 1996 to help to the countries with a rent per capita minor to the 695 dollars in 1993.

The HIPC has favored to 45 nations with severe problems of external debt, of which 33 are of Africa, four of Asia and four of Latin America, among them Nicaragua and Honduras.

The decision taken yesterday in Holland by the Committee of Governors of the I.A.D.B., will have to be made official in the Assembly of Governors of the I.A.D.B., the 16 to the 20 of next March in Guatemala.

The Assembly is integrated by the countries members of the I.A.D.B., in the people of the ministers of Property or Finances.
