The elect President of Nicaragua, Daniel
Ortega, reiterated yesterday his decision to continue working by the
fortification of the relations between his country and the town of
Taiwan.
“With the crossing of the presidential
control we hoped to continue working with its town and its country,
in the fortification of the relations in all the aspects”, said
Ortega to the President of that Asian island, Chen Shui-bian, with
that met last night.
Ortega gave to the Taiwanese governor a
warm welcome in this third visit that does to Nicaragua.
“We are very contentments of which they
are at this moment in which we hoped to continue working to
eradicate the poverty. Our commitment is peace, work and
reconciliation”, said Ortega in the appointment that was developed
in the General Secretariat of the Sandinista Front of Liberación
Nacional (FSLN).
The Taiwanese Chief of State, by his side,
affirmed that she felt extremely pleased to head the delegation to
attend the ceremony of investiture of Ortega.
The Taiwanese agent chief executive said,
in addition, to feel identified with the policies and the objectives
of government settled down by Ortega and added to be arranged to
continue collaborating in the economic and social development of
Nicaragua.
Chen Shui-bian arrived accompanied by a
retinue from more than 200 people, integrated by civil employees of
its government, private industralists and journalists of different
mass media from the Asian country.

Ortega also met with a North American
delegation headed by Mike Leavitt, Human secretary of Health and
Services of the United States, to that accompanied the assistant
secretary by State for Subjects of the Western Hemisphere, Thomas
Shannon, and the executive director of the corporation of Cuenta of
the Millenium, John J. Danilovich, in addition to the North American
ambassador in Nicaragua, Paul Trivelli.
Ortega said to Leavitt that spoke by
telephone with president George W. Bush and who “was a very good and
very positive conversation”. The elect President added that “there
is disposition to continue working together in the combat against
the poverty, because that is the great challenge”.
Leavitt asserted that “we shared the
commitment his to alleviate the poverty and hoped to be able to
continue working you along with you stop the economic well-being of
Nicaragua”.
In the encounter with the North American
delegation she was present Arturo Cruz, who will exert the function
of ambassador of Nicaragua in Washington.
To Ortega they accompanied Bayardo Maple,
Samuel Santos, Rosario Murillo and Mohamed Lasthar, Nicaraguan of
Libyan origin.
