Foursquare Missions work in Nicaragua was initiated
by an evangelistic campaign with government approval. Conducted in 1952
by the third Gospel Team-Dr. Fred Beard, Rev. Edwin Gurney and Rev.
Claude Updike- crowds in excess of 15,000 gathered.
Misiones Cuadrangulares comenzó en Nicaragua con una campaña
evangelística con la aprobación del gobierno. Esta campaña fue realizada
por el equipo evangelítico integrado por el Dr. Fred Beard, el Rev.
Edwing Gurney y el Rev. Claudio Updike.
Hundreds were healed and during the crusade more than 10,000 accepted
Christ. Unfortunately, there was no missionary available to follow up
the revival. When Rev. and Mrs Allen Tollen arrived in Managua, some
time later, opposing forces had influenced the goverment. While many
friends awaited, unbelievers persisted in persecuting those who had been
converted.
Cientos fueron sanados y durante la campaña más de 10.000 aceptaron a
Cristo. Desafortunadamente no hubo disponible un misionero para
continuar luego del avivamiento. Cuando el Rev Allen Tolle y su esposa

Foursquare churches. We are planting new churches in every region.

Following interim stays of one year each by Dean
Truett and Elmer McCammon, Charles and Nelwyn Gosling replaced the Allen
Tolles, who had left the field in 1960 due to illness. Later, Rev & Mrs.
Floyd Frutiger served for two years and then Bill Prichett. In 1974,
Rev. James and Shirley Walker were appointed resident missionaries. In
1976, Rev and Mrs Jerry King were sent to the country to complete the
church compound, but due to ill health of their daughter and the
outbreak of civil war, they were forced to leave. The National Church
was without missionaries during twelve years until 1990 when FMI
appointed to Serafin and Alva Contreras. They have 10 years working with
the Nicaraguan Church.

como misioneros hasta que Charles y Nelwyn Gosling reemplazaron a Allen

Pastores en Nicaragua
Most of Nicaraguan pastors are young men. Several of
them were Sandinists Commanders and others served as Contras. Once
enemies, they are now brothers in Christ, and it is wonderful to see
them together working and praising the Lord.

Serafin and Alva Contreras are traveling from
Panama to Nicaragua once a month in order to teach the pastors in
Nicaragua.
